Given,
x + y = 5.5 …….(i)
x - y = 0.9 …….(ii)
Adding both the equations,
⇒ x + y + (x - y) = 5.5 + 0.9
⇒ 2x = 6.4
⇒ x = 3.2
Substituting value of x in (ii),
⇒ 3.2 - y = 0.9
⇒ y = 3.2 - 0.9 = 2.3
Hence, x = 3.2 and y = 2.3
