If 3{\sqrt3} = 1.732, find (correct to two decimal places) the value of each of the following :

(i) sin 60°

(ii) 2tan 30°\dfrac{2}{\text{tan 30°}}

Answer

(i) sin 60°

= 32\dfrac{\sqrt3}{2}

= 1.7322\dfrac{1.732}{2}

= 0.87

Hence, sin 60° = 0.87.

(ii) 2tan 30°\dfrac{2}{\text{tan 30°}}

=213=2×3=2×1.732=3.46= \dfrac{2}{\dfrac{1}{\sqrt3}}\\[1em] = 2 \times \sqrt3\\[1em] = 2 \times 1.732\\[1em] = 3.46

Hence, 2tan 30°\dfrac{2}{\text{tan 30°}} = 3.46
