On measuring the given line segments with the help of a ruler, we get:
AB = 3 cm, BC = 2 cm, AC = 5 cm
(i) AB + BC = 3 cm + 2 cm = 5 cm = AC
∴ AB + BC = AC is verified.
(ii) AC - BC = 5 cm - 2 cm = 3 cm = AB
∴ AC - BC = AB is verified.
