What are the characteristics of a shadow?

A shadow has the following characteristics :

1. A shadow is always formed on the opposite side of the light source.
2. The shadow is of the same shape as the object.
3. The clarity and length of the shadow depends on the position of the light source. For example, a shadow is long and comparatively faint in the morning and evening whereas at noon, it is shorter and dark.
