Attention Value — The first requirement of a good advertisement is that it must be able to attract the attention of those to whom it is directed. Most people are busy and pay only cursory attention to advertisements. The attention can be attracted by using catchy headlines, pictures, bright colours, bold types, artistic borders, or by quoting an attractive low price.
Memorising Value — The design and layout of the copy should be such that it has a lasting impression on the minds of people. Repeated use of brand names and trademarks helps to make the advertisement memorable. Association of the product with a symbol or sketch (e.g., the smiling baby with Murphy radios) also helps to create a long-term impact on the mind.
