Answer

Solving,

⇒ x3 - x2 = (x - 1)3

⇒ x3 - x2 = [(x)3 - (1)3 - 3x × 1 × (x - 1)]

⇒ x3 - x2 = x3 - 1 - 3x(x - 1)

⇒ x3 - x2 = x3 - 1 - 3x2 + 3x

⇒ x3 - x2 - x3 + 1 + 3x2 - 3x = 0

⇒ x3 - x3 - x2 + 3x2 - 3x + 1 = 0

⇒ 2x2 - 3x + 1 = 0

The highest power of equation is 2 and it's equivalent to ax2 + bx + c = 0 . Hence the equation is a quadratic equation.

Hence, option 3 is the correct option.
