-4 ≤ 3x - 1 < 8
Solving L.H.S. of the equation,
⇒ -4 ≤ 3x - 1
⇒ 3x ≥ -4 + 1
⇒ 3x ≥ -3
⇒ x ≥ -1 ………(i)
Solving R.H.S. of the equation,
⇒ 3x - 1 < 8
⇒ 3x < 8 + 1
⇒ 3x < 9
⇒ x < 3 ………(ii)
From (i) and (ii) we get,
-1 ≤ x < 3.
∴ Solution set = {-1 ≤ x < 3 : x ∈ R }
