ILO helps the workers in the following ways:
- It helps in establishing international labour standards by setting minimum standards of labour rights like freedom of association, right to organise, collective bargaining, abolition of forced labour, equality of opportunity and treatment.
- It forms policies for improving the condition of the workers.
- It sets standards for wages and living conditions of the workers.
- It provides technical assistance and has adopted conventions which provide compulsory insurance against sickness, old age, death and payment of compensation to workers and their dependents in case of injury by accident and diseases.
- It offers opportunities to workers for studying and training in ILO's International Institute for Labour Studies at Geneva and the International Centre for Advanced Technical and Vocational Training at Turin, Italy.
