Even though agriculture and commerce are state subjects, there is a need to have ministers of agriculture and commerce in the Union cabinet:

  1. To maintain Inter-State Trade and Coordination as States deal with each other in commercial and agricultural commodities.
  2. To coordinate international trades.
  3. To ensure national food security.
