Substituting value of d in Eq. 1, we get : ⇒ a = 4 - 2d = 4 - 2(-2) = 4 + 4 = 8. Let nth term be zero. ⇒ a n = 0 ⇒ a + (n - 1)d = 0 ⇒ 8 + (n - 1)(-2) = 0 ⇒ 8 - 2n + 2 = 0 ⇒ 2n = 10 ⇒ n = = 5. Hence, 5th term will be 0.
