The lid of a rectangular box of sides 40 cm by 10 cm is sealed all round with tape. What is the length of the tape required?

Given:
Length of the lid = 40 cm
Breadth of the lid = 10 cm
The length of the tape required will be equal to the perimeter of the rectangular lid.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)
= 2(40 + 10) cm
= 2 × 50 cm
= 100 cm
= 1 m
Hence, the length of the tape required is 1 m.
