The Lancashire cotton mill shown in figure 4, suggests a positive perception of industrialisation emphasising job creation and economic growth. The overall impression is one of power, industry, and progress. Figure 5 shows the landscape of Manchester dominated by chimneys billowing smoke symbolizing the environmental degradation associated with industrialisation. The overall impression is one of grime, pollution, and harsh working conditions. It emphasises the negative aspects of industrialisation such as environmental concerns, worker exploitation and social inequality.
