The Lok Sabha exercises control over the Executive (the Union Council of Ministers) in the following ways-
- The Union Council of Ministers is collectively responsible to the Lok Sabha. An important function of the Lok Sabha is to make and throw out governments. The Ministers continue in office so long as they enjoy the confidence of a majority of Members in the Lok Sabha.
- No-Confidence Motion against the Council of Ministers can be moved only in the Lok Sabha. If the Motion is passed, it implies loss of confidence and the Prime Minister has to submit resignation of his Council of Ministers.
