Answer

Subtract each expense one by one from the amount remaining at that stage.

Monthly income of Ramesh = ₹ 40,000

Finding the money spent on food,

38×40000=3×5000=₹15000\dfrac{3}{8} \times 40000 = 3 \times 5000 = ₹ 15000

Money left after buying food = ₹ 40000 - ₹ 15000 = ₹ 25000

Finding the money spent on LIC premium,

15×25000=₹5000\dfrac{1}{5} \times 25000 = ₹ 5000

Money left after paying the LIC premium = ₹ 25000 - ₹ 5000 = ₹ 20000

Finding the money spent on other expenses,

12×20000=₹10000\dfrac{1}{2} \times 20000 = ₹ 10000

Money left with him = ₹ 20000 - ₹ 10000 = ₹ 10000

Hence, Option 2 is the correct option.
