The numbers of the form $\dfrac{p}{q}$ , where p and q are integers and q is not equal to zero, are called rational numbers.

Examples:

(i) $\dfrac{2}{3}$

(ii) $-\dfrac{5}{8}$

(iii) 7

(iv) 0

(v) -9

(vi) $\dfrac{11}{2}$

(vii) -1.25

(viii) 3.75

(ix) 10000

(x) $\dfrac{-16}{7}$
