Answer
Substituting in above equations we get,
Multiply by 3:
6a + 2b = 1 …….(i)
2a - b = 2 …….(ii)
⇒ -b = 2 - 2a
⇒ b = 2a - 2
Substituting this value of b in equation (i) we get,
6a + 2(2a - 2) = 1
⇒ 6a + 4a - 4 = 1
⇒ 10a - 4 = 1
⇒ 10a = 1 + 4
⇒ 10a = 5
⇒ a =
⇒ a =
⇒
⇒
From (ii) we have,
b = 2a - 2
Substituting value of a in above equation we get,
b = 2 x - 2
⇒ b = 1 - 2
⇒ b = -1
⇒ = -1
⇒ = -1
Hence, x = 2 and y = -1.
