Answer
Given,
Equations : x + 2y + 9 = 0, 3x + 4y + 17 = 0
⇒ x + 2y + 9 = 0
⇒ x = -9 - 2y ….(1)
Substituting value of x from equation (1) in 3x + 4y + 17 = 0, we get :
⇒ 3(-9 - 2y) + 4y + 17 = 0
⇒ -27 - 6y + 4y + 17 = 0
⇒ -10 - 2y = 0
⇒ -2y = 10
⇒ y = .
Substituting value of y in equation (1), we get :
⇒ x = -9 - 2y
⇒ x = -9 - 2(-5)
⇒ x = -9 + 10
⇒ x = 1.
Hence, x = 1, y = -5.
