Solve the following equations:

(i) 3(2^x + 1) - 2^{x + 2} + 5 = 0

(ii) 3^x = 9.3^y, 8.2^y = 4^x.

(i) Given,

⇒ 3(2^x + 1) - 2^{x + 2} + 5 = 0

⇒ 3.2^x + 3 - 2^x.2² + 5 = 0

⇒ 3.2^x - 4.2^x + 3 + 5 = 0

⇒ -2^x + 8 = 0

⇒ 2^x = 8

⇒ 2^x = 2³

⇒ x = 3.

Hence, x = 3.

(ii) Given,

⇒ 3^x = 9.3^y

⇒ 3^x = 3².3^y

⇒ 3^x = 3^{2 + y}

⇒ x = y + 2 ……(i)

Given,

⇒ 8.2^y = 4^x

⇒ 2³.2^y = (2²)^x

⇒ 2^{3 + y} = 2^2x

⇒ 2x = y + 3 …….(ii)

Subtracting (i) from (ii) we get,

⇒ 2x - x = (y + 3) - (y + 2)

⇒ x = 1.

Substituting value of x in (i) we get,

⇒ 1 = y + 2

⇒ y = -1.

Hence, x = 1 and y = -1.
