Solve the following simultaneous linear equations:

2(x - 4) = 9y + 2

Given,

2(x - 4) = 9y + 2 ……(i)

x - 6y = 2 or x = 2 + 6y……(ii)

Substituting value of x from eq. (ii) in (i),

⇒ 2[(2 + 6y) - 4] = 9y + 2

⇒ 2[6y - 2] = 9y + 2

⇒ 12y - 4 = 9y + 2

⇒ 12y - 9y = 2 + 4

⇒ 3y = 6

⇒ y = 2.

x = 2 + 6y = 2 + 6(2) = 2 + 12 = 14.

Hence, x = 14 and y = 2.
