Let the three consecutive even numbers be x, x + 2, and x + 4.
The sum of three consecutive even numbers is 48:
∴ x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 48
⇒ 3x + 6 = 48
⇒ 3x = 48 - 6 [Transposing +6 to RHS]
⇒ 3x = 42
⇒ x =
⇒ x = 14
The numbers are 14, 14 + 2 = 16, and 14 + 4 = 18.
Hence, the required numbers are 14, 16 and 18.
