Let the two consecutive odd numbers be x and x + 2.
The sum of two consecutive odd numbers is 56:
∴ x + (x + 2) = 56
⇒ 2x + 2 = 56
⇒ 2x = 56 - 2 [Transposing +2 to RHS]
⇒ 2x = 54
⇒ x =
⇒ x = 27
The numbers are 27 and 27 + 2 = 29.
Hence, the required numbers are 27 and 29.
