The 25th term of an A.P. exceeds its 9th term by 16. Find its common difference.

Given,
⇒ a25 - a9 = 16
⇒ a + (25 - 1)d - (a + (9 - 1)d) = 16
⇒ a - a + 24d - 8d = 16
⇒ 16d = 16
⇒ d = 1.
Hence, common difference = 1.
