Reason — When an incident ray from glass to air at an angle of incidence i = C (critical angle) for which the angle of refraction r is 90°. Then, the refractive index of air with respect to glass is :

gμaa = sin Csin 90°\dfrac {\text{sin C}}{\text{sin 90°}}

As, sin 90° = 1

∴ sin C = gμaa or

sin C = 1aμg\dfrac {1}{ {g}}
