Let the numbers be 8x and 7x.

The sum of numbers is 405.

⇒ 8x + 7x = 405

⇒ 15x = 405

⇒ x = 40515\dfrac{405}{15}

⇒ x = 27

Numbers = 8x = 27 x 8

= 216

And, 7x = 27 x 7

= 189

Hence, the numbers are 216 and 189.
