Let the required number be x.

Then, thrice the number (3x) increased by 6 = 39

∴ 3x + 6 = 39

⇒ 3x = 39 - 6

⇒ 3x = 33

⇒ x = 333\dfrac{33}{3}

⇒ x = 11

Hence, the required number is 11.
