It captures the "what" or "how" rather than the "how many" or "how much". Qualitative data is typically descriptive and is used to understand underlying reasons, opinions or motivations. It can further be categorised into two types — Nominal Data (which categorises data without any order, e.g., colors, names) and Ordinal Data (which involves data with a meaningful order but no fixed interval, e.g., rankings, satisfaction levels).
