Let breadth of the box be b cm.
Calculating the breadth of the box,
Total surface area = 2(lb + bh + hl)
⇒ 460 = 2(12 × b + b × 5 + 5 × 12)
⇒ 460 = 2(12b + 5b + 60)
⇒ 460 = 2(17b + 60)
⇒ 17b + 60 =
⇒ 17b + 60 = 230
⇒ 17b = 230 - 60
⇒ 17b = 170
⇒ b = = 10 cm.
