Assertion (A): The cost of manufacturing x identical articles is ₹ 5(30 + x) and their selling price is ₹ 8x. The number of these articles manufactured and sold to break even is 50.
Reason (R):
5(30 + x) = 8x
150 + 5x = 8x ⇒ x = 50

Answer
Both A and R are true.
Explanation
Number of articles = x
C.P. = ₹ 5(30 + x)
S.P. = ₹ 8x
To break even : C.P. = S.P.
⇒ 5(30 + x) = 8x
⇒ 150 + 5x = 8x
⇒ 8x - 5x = 150
⇒ 3x = 150
⇒ x =
⇒ x = 50
∴ Assertion (A) is true.
From the above calculation ⇒ x = 50.
∴ Reason (R) is true.
Hence, both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true.
