Steps of construction :
Draw a line segment BC = 5 cm.
Draw BX ⊥ BC and CY ⊥ BC.
From BX, cut BA = 7 cm.
From CY, cut CD = 5 cm.
Join AD.

Hence, ABCD is the required quadrilateral.
