⇒ 16x2 = 24x + 1
⇒ 16x2 - 24x - 1 = 0
Comparing 16x2 - 24x - 1 = 0 with ax2 + bx + c = 0 we get,
a = 16, b = -24 and c = -1.
We know that,
Discriminant (D) = b2 - 4ac
= (-24)2 - 4 × 16 × -1
= 576 - (-64) = 576 + 64 = 640; which is positive and is not a perfect square.
Hence, the roots are irrational and unequal.
