Answer

Steps of construction :

  1. Draw BC = 6.4 cm.

  2. Draw PQ, the right bisector of BC and draw a circle with PB as radius.

  3. Along PQ, cut off PR = 2.5 cm.

  4. Through R, draw AA′ ∥ BC meeting the circle at A and A′.

  5. Join AB and AC. Draw AT perpendicular to BC, AT = 2.5 cm.

  6. Mid-point of BC is circumcentre and radius = 12\dfrac{1}{2} BC.

Draw a right-angled ΔABC in which hypotenuse BC = 6.4 cm and the altitude from A on BC is 2.5 cm. Draw the circumcircle of the triangle and measure its radius. Tangent Properties of Circles, RSA Mathematics Solutions ICSE Class 10.

Hence, radius PQ = 3.2 cm.
