32 - 2(x - 4)2
= 2[16 - (x - 4)2]
= 2[(4)2 - (x - 4)2].
Using identity,
a2 - b2 = (a + b)(a - b).
2[(4)2 - (x - 4)2]
= 2[4 + (x - 4)][4 - (x - 4)]
= 2(4 + x - 4)(4 - x + 4)
= 2(x)(8 - x)
= 2x(8 - x).
Hence, 32 - 2(x - 4)2 = 2x(8 - x).
