Answer

Let r be the radius of the circle.

The circumference of a circle = 264 cm

As we know, the circumference of the circle = 2πr

2×227×r=264447×r=264r=264×744r=184844r=42 cm⇒ 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7} \times r = 264\\[1em] ⇒ \dfrac{44}{7} \times r = 264\\[1em] ⇒ r = \dfrac{264 \times 7}{44}\\[1em] ⇒ r = \dfrac{1848}{44}\\[1em] ⇒ r = 42 \text{ cm}

And, area of the circle = πr2

=227×422=227×1764=388087=5544 cm2= \dfrac{22}{7} \times 42^2\\[1em] = \dfrac{22}{7} \times 1764\\[1em] = \dfrac{38808}{7}\\[1em] = 5544 \text{ cm}^2

Hence, the area of the circle is 5,544 cm2.
