In a nitrogen molecule (N2), each nitrogen atom shares three pairs of electrons with the other nitrogen atom and also retains one lone pair. In ammonia (NH3), nitrogen forms three covalent bonds with hydrogen atoms and retains one lone pair. Hence, the statement that nitrogen molecule has no lone pair is not chemically correct. Each nitrogen atom in N2 has one lone pair.
