Answer

Given,

⇒ 25 - 4x ≤ 16

⇒ -4x ≤ 16 - 25

⇒ -4x ≤ -9

Multiplying both sides by -1 we get,

⇒ 4x ≥ 9 (As on multiplying by negative no. the sign reverses.)

Dividing both sides by 4 we get,

⇒ x ≥ 94\dfrac{9}{4}

⇒ x ≥ 2.25

(i) Given,

x ≥ 2.25

Hence, smallest value of x when x is a real number is 2.25

(ii) Given,

x ≥ 2.25

Hence, smallest value of x when x is an integer is 3.
