Even though agriculture and commerce are state subjects, there is a need to have ministers of agriculture and commerce in the Union cabinet:
- To maintain Inter-State Trade and Coordination as States deal with each other in commercial and agricultural commodities.
- To coordinate international trades.
- To ensure national food security.
