Substituting, x = -3 in 2x2 - 7x + 9 = 0 we get,

⇒ 2.(-3)2 - 7(-3) + 9 = 0

L.H.S.,

⇒ 2.(9) + 21 + 9

⇒ 18 + 21 + 9

⇒ 48

Since, L.H.S. ≠ R.H.S.

Hence, proved that x = -3 is not a solution of the equation 2x2 - 7x + 9 = 0.
