Substituting, x = 5 in x2 - 2x - 15 = 0 we get,
⇒ 52 - 2(5) - 15 = 0
⇒ 25 - 10 - 15 = 0

⇒ 0 = 0
Since, L.H.S. = R.H.S.
Hence, proved that x = 5 is a solution of the equation x2 - 2x - 15 = 0.
