Answer

Given,

92x=5+x2\dfrac{9}{2}x = 5 + x^2

⇒ 9x = 2(5 + x2)

⇒ 9x = 10 + 2x2

⇒ 2x2 - 9x + 10 = 0

⇒ 2x2 - 4x - 5x + 10 = 0

⇒ 2x(x - 2) - 5(x - 2) = 0

⇒ (2x - 5)(x - 2) = 0

⇒ 2x - 5 = 0 or x - 2 = 0      [Using Zero-product rule]

⇒ 2x = 5 or x = 2

⇒ x = 52\dfrac{5}{2} or x = 2.

Hence, x = 2 or x = 52\dfrac{5}{2}.
