Answer

Given:

The perimeter of a rectangle = The perimeter of a square

Each side of the square = 30 cm

The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to the perimeter of a square. If each side of the square is 30 cm and length of the rectangle is 40 cm; the breadth of the rectangle is : Area of a Trapezium and a Polygon, Concise Mathematics Solutions ICSE Class 8.

Length of the rectangle = 40 cm

Let b be the breadth of the rectangle.

As we know that perimeter of the rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

And, perimeter of the square = 4 x side

⇒ 2(40 + b) = 4 x 30

⇒ 80 + 2b = 120

⇒ 2b = 120 - 80

⇒ 2b = 40

⇒ b = 402\dfrac{40}{2}

⇒ b = 20

Hence, option 4 is the correct option.
