Given:
Base of the triangle = 24 cm
Hypotenuse of the triangle = 40 cm
Let h be the height of the triangle.

In a right-angled triangle, using the Pythagorean theorem,
Base2 + Height2 = Hypotenuse2
⇒ (24)2 + h2 = (40)2
⇒ 576 + h2 = 1600
⇒ h2 = 1600 - 576
⇒ h2 = 1024
⇒ h =
⇒ h = 32 cm
As we know, the area of a triangle = x side x height
= x 24 x 32 cm2
= x 768 cm2
= 384 cm2
Hence, the area of the triangle is 384 cm2.
