Reason — Clock rule : if current at the face of the loop is clockwise, so it behaves as south pole, while current at the face of the loop is anticlockwise, so it behaves as north pole.
"When points A and C are connected to the positive terminal, the second end of the first electromagnet becomes the south pole because the current at that end flows in clockwise direction. Similarly, the first end of the second electromagnet becomes the north pole since the current there is anticlockwise. Due to these opposite polarities at the facing ends, the electromagnets attract each other."
