Using ruler and compass construct a triangle ABC in which AB = 6 cm. ∠BAC = 120° and AC = 5 cm. Construct a circle passing through A, B and C. Measure and write down the radius of the circle.

Answer

Steps of construction :

  1. Draw AB = 6 cm.

  2. Draw AP so that angle BAP = 120°.

  3. From AP cut AC = 5 cm ⇒ ∠BAC = 120°.

  4. Join B and C to get triangle ABC.

  5. Draw perpendicular bisectors of AB and AC which cut each other at point O.

  6. With O as center and OA (or OB or OC) as radius draw circle which passes through points A, B and C.
