Answer

  1. Ratio of C and H atoms in Benzene (C6H6) = 6 : 6
    Simplest Ratio = 1 : 1
∴ Empirical formula of Benzene (C6H6) = CH
  2. Ratio of C, H and O atoms in Glucose (C6H12O6) = 6 : 12 : 6
    Simplest Ratio = 1 : 2 : 1
    ∴ Empirical formula of Glucose (C6H12O6) = CH2O
  3. Ratio of C and H atoms in Acetylene (C2H2) = 2 : 2
    Simplest Ratio = 1 : 1
∴ Empirical formula of Acetylene (C2H2) = CH
  4. Ratio of C, H and O atoms in Acetic acid (CH3COOH) = 2 : 4 : 2
    Simplest Ratio = 1 : 2 : 1
    ∴ Empirical formula of Acetic acid (CH3COOH) = CH2O
