We know that,
⇒ (a - b)2 = a2 + b2 - 2ab.
(i) Given,
⇒ (5x - 3y)2
⇒ (5x)2 + (3y)2 - 2 × 5x × 3y
⇒ 25x2 + 9y2 - 30xy
Hence, (5x - 3y)2 = 25x2 + 9y2 - 30xy .
(ii) Given,
⇒ (3a - 7b)2
⇒ (3a)2 + (7b)2 - 2 × 3a × 7b
⇒ 9a2 + 49b2 - 42ab
Hence, (3a - 7b)2 = 9a2 + 49b2 - 42ab.
